The NFL Draft starts tomorrow (4/27/23) here in Kansas City. Lots of great talent and expect 11th hour trades as teams try to move up. All of the action here in Kansas City. Missouri starting tomorrow - Thursday.
The Kansas Chiefs are the 2023 Superbowl Champions! (2/12/23). Patrick Mahomes has been named the MVP of the SuperBowl! The Kansas City Quarterback was also named MVP of the regular season! The Superbowl victory was the 2nd for the Chiefs in the past 4 years and their 3rd appearance in the Big game in the past 4 yrs
The Kansas City Royals posted the very first win of the 2023 Spring Training season with a 6 to 5 win over the Texas Rangers on Friday 2/24/23. Today (2/26/23) the Royals will continue with their Spring Training season facing the Seattle Mariners. The Royals will have a lot of hope this season built into Bobby Witt Jr
Patrick Mahomes has already led the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl win and a second place finish in the Super Bowl. Mahomes has many years ahead of him and could lead this team on a nice run in the future that puts them in the conversation as best NFL Team of all time.
However until that day (which I believe comes in the future). Currently their is no question about who the best team of all time is. Not any of the Cowboy teams, Not the Raiders, Not the Ditka led Bears of the 80's and not even any of the Brady/Belichick teams. The best of all time are the 1971 thru 1974 Dolphins which went to 3 consecutive Super Bowls!
The Dolphins had a Quarterback named Bob Griese. Perhaps you recognize that name because his sons have gone on to do things in the NFL. So have the sons of the Coach of that team named Don Shula. The ground game was incredible with 2 super running backs (Mercury Morris and Larry Csonka who became the first teammates ever to each rush for more than 1000 yards in a season!) Paul Warfield led the team in receptions and receiving yards! The Dolphins offense was so good that in the 1972 season they led the league in points allowed and also in points scored and went unbeaten!
Many people forget that the season before the Dolphins recorded the undefeated season, they were defeated in the Super Bowl 24 to 3 by the Dallas Cowboys. This is why I say 1971 thru 1974!
In that perfect season in 1972, they won 3 post season playoff game. The last one was the 1973 Super Bowl over the Redskins to record the only perfect season finished off by a Championship/SuperBowl victory. Unlike that New England team that also went undefeated in the Regular season but lost in the Super Bowl to the Giants. Even the Bears went undefeated in 1934 and 1942, but lost the Championship games those years. So, it was not a perfect season! Furthermore, the Dolphins finished up a Perfect season winning another Super Bowl (we know have tough it is to repeat) and the year before the first Super Bowl win they were in the Super Bowl against Dallas in a loss.
No one else has been able to record a perfect season other than the Miami Dolphins! Cowboy Head Coach was the one to name the Dolphins defense "no name" because they lacked stars on Defense. However, they sure knew how to win and one year they were unstoppable.
They were so good that several decades later President Obama invited the surviving members to the White House because he realized they never got their White House visit. (he did not do this with any other team in any other Sport).
It only took them 5 years to make it to a Super Bowl. However, Don Shula was not their first Coach. George Wilson was the first Miami Coach and was fired as it was tough for him to win in the early years. However, Shula came over from the Baltimore Colts in 1970 and would Coach the Dolphins all the way until 1995. The NFL's best team of all time is right here in Miami, thee 1971 thru 1974 Dolphins.
